PETITION
Citizens Against Marijuana Prohibition
to the Governor of New York for Redress of Grievances
We, the undersigned, as citizens and inhabitants of New York State, ask Governor David Paterson to abolish all laws that prohibit New York citizens and inhabitants from all the benefits of the valuable life giving hemp plant because such laws are unlawful and overbroad in that they sweep away and deny we, the individuals, our basic God given rights to life (hemp oil prevents and cures cancer), liberty (freedom of religion, freedom of assembly and freedom of speech), justice (the right to a redress of grievances, a fair trial and honest government) and privacy which are rights protected and guaranteed by the Constitution of the State of New York and the Constitution of the United States for all peaceful law abiding citizens and inhabitants.
We also ask, in the interest of justice, that all prisoners being held in jails for only cultivation, possession and sales of cannabis hemp be released immediately because growing, smoking, wearing, carrying and/or eating any or all parts of the valuable hemp plant are lawful peaceful acts, not criminal acts, and are, therefore, protected under the Constitution of the State of New York and the Constitution of the United States and shall not be abridged.
